Visit Nyungwe Forest National park to see the chimpanzees with a canopy walk and also the Volcanoes National park for the Mountain Gorilla tracking expedition.
Day 1 – Travel to Nyungwe National Park.
6:30 am, After your breakfast, you will meet with your driver guide for a briefing about your 5 days tour of Rwanda covering 2 National Parks of Rwanda.(Nyungwe and Volcanoes National Parks). Drive through the Kigali city towards the south west through the rolling hills, valleys of Rwanda. After a 1:30 minutes drive, visit to the newly built kings palace at Nyanza. The palace was rebuilt in 2003. The palace belonged to King Musinga the 5th,and due to the french resistance, the king escaped to Congo from Rwanda in 1931 and died in the same year.
After the visit, continue with your journey to Nyungwe forest Park. Drive past the Nyungwe forest tea plantation and Check into your preffered lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 2 – Morning chimpanzee tracking and afternoon Canopy Walk.
5:30 am, An early breakfast and continue to the briefing section at Gisakura for the morning chimp trekking tour. The tracking could take from 1 to 3 hrs depending on where the Chimps last fed from and the physical ability of the all members in the group.
Return later in time for lunch, relax at your lodge and have an afternoon drive to the Uwinka Visitor’s center for the Canopy walk tour. The Canopy walk way gives you a great view of the Nyungwe forest Canopy and a chance to see or even get close to other Monkeys on top of the tree canopys.
Day 3 – Travel to the Volcanoes National Park.
We shall embark on the drive to the Volcanoes National Park in preparations for the Gorilla tracking adventure the next morning via Kibuye, gisenyi and finally Musanze district – Lunch en-route. On a clear day, all the 5 Volcanoes can be viewed.
Dinner and overnight at the chosen lodge.
Day 4 – Full Day Gorilla tracking day.
5:45 am, wake up for yet another great adventurous day of Gorilla tracking.After your breakfast,pack your bottled water and lunch. Then continue to the Kinigi briefing centre for the days gorilla trekking in Rwanda. You will be allocated a gorilla group or family to track together with other travellers. Each group will comprise of 8 members together with park rangers to escort you. For members who have back packs and need assistance, porters are usually around for back up. You will drive to the starting point of the Gorilla family to track, and begin the trek.
Kindly note that the tracking could take a whole day, 1 hour or even less to see the Gorillas. You will be allowed at least 1 hour to view the Gorillas, and then return to the briefing area where you will graduate and receive your certificates.
Drive back to the lodge for dinner and Overnight.
Day 5 – Morning Cultural Visit to Iby’iwacu village, travel back to Kigali.
8:00 am, We shall have breakfast from our lodge and smoothly drive to the Iby’iwacu cultural Village for a show case of the Rwandan kings cultural performance in the palace together with the Rwandan community tour.
